A Day -Emily Dickinson (American Poet)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5Nsjcx4KDc

The poem “A Day” by Emily Dickinson is about a beautiful day. The day brings the Children to experience from ignorance. So it highlights a transition from Innocence to experience. The poem is full of imagery and symbols.

The poem describes about a village’s Sunrise and sunset. It also presents difficult world and it’s surroundings. It describes the process of sunrise and sunset. When sun  rises  its rays covers the steeple of the church. Sunrise covers all areas like a sqirrel run. People can see dark hills, American bird, etc after the sunrise. All living things seem happy and beautiful after the sunrise. The speaker also loves the beauty of the Sunrise. She finds it lovely and magnificent.

After describing sunrise, the speaker describes about sunset. The speaker uses reserve tone to describe it. The speaker seems to be a child. The child doesn’t know much about the sunset. The rising sun moves from East to west. The transition of Sun Symbolically means the journey from life to death. People love to talk about life but ignores about the death. So, the speaker intentionally doesn’t discribe much about death (sunset). Death is dreadful. The poem presents the teme of beautiful life and fearful death.
