Ans: In communication we share information with other. Sender uses set of rules, signs, symbols,etc to convey it. Modes of Communication is related with the sending and receiving the message. Sometimes sender has to use more than one mode to communicate with other.
5 Major Modes of Communication
1. Interpretative Mode
Sender sends the message and the receiver interprets it in his/her own way. Example: A person reading a book. It is one way communication because receiver doesn’t get a chance to meet with the sender.
2. Presentational Mode
There is less possibility of direct interaction between sender and receiver. Examples are letters, articles,etc. It may take short or long time to reach the message.
3. Interpersonal Mode
It is face to face communication. Both get instant response from each other. It is very effective mode of communication. It is two way and dynamic mode of communication. Examples is face to face communication between sender and receiver. Debate, telephone conversation, email, text message are the major examples.
4. Verbal Mode
It uses words to convey the sender’s message. It may be oral or written. It is effective and common mode.
5. Non-Verbal Mode
It doesn’t use words to convey the sender’s message. It uses signs, gestures, pictures to convey the message.
