Position of Frequency Adverbs
(e.g. always, often, never, usually, sometimes, rarely, seldom, ever, frequently, etc.)
1. Before the Main Verb

Structure: Subject + Adverb + Main Verb

Examples:

She usually walks to school.

They often play football in the evening.

We rarely watch TV at night.

He never eats junk food.

2. After the Verb “Be”
-
Structure: Subject + Be (am/is/are) + Adverb + Complement

Examples:

I am always happy to help.

He is sometimes tired after work.

They are often late to meetings.

She is rarely upset.
-
We are never bored during holidays.

3. Between the Auxiliary Verb and the Main Verb

Structure: Auxiliary Verb + Adverb + Main Verb

Examples:

She has often visited her grandparents.

I have never seen such a beautiful sunset.

We will usually arrive early.

He can sometimes forget his keys.

They had rarely spoken to each other before.

4. Before “used to” and “have to”

Structure: Adverb + used to / have to

Examples:

We usually used to play outside after school.

He often has to work on weekends.

I rarely used to drink coffee.

They frequently have to travel for business.

Ans: He does not like alcoholic drinks but takes some wine now and then.
h. I Drink my tea with milk. (generally)
Ans: I generally drink my tea with milk.
i. Have you been to Agra? (ever)
Ans: Have you ever been to Agra?
j. The restaurant hours vary as it is booked for special events. (frequently)
