a) What does the line ‘The news like squirrels ran’ mean?

Ans: It means speed of the sun rise. It is compared with the faster animal squirrel.
b. What do you understand by the line ‘The hills untied their bonnets’?

Ans: It means hills have untied their caps(bonnets) out of joy of sunrise.
c). Is the speaker watching the morning sun? Why? Why not?

Ans: The speaker is not watching the morning sun because he is describing sun rise to his friend.
d). How does the sun set?

Ans: Sun turning into purple and yellow show the setting sun.

a. What, according to the speaker, is a day?

Ans: Day is used symbolically in this poem to indicate life. Sunrise and sunset are linked with life and death. So, the poem describing a day is associated with our journey of life.
b. What makes this poem lyrical and sonorous? Discuss.

Ans: The poem is lyrical and sonorous because of rhyme, rhythm, alliteration and assonance quality. We can sing this poem as a song because of its lyrical quality.
