This poem is about a famous king of England. The king’s life ended badly because of a white lie. The King had three beautiful daughters. Before dyeing the king decided to divide his kingdom among his daughters.
To determine the exact property for each of his daughters, he asked them questions. He asked Goneril, his eldest daughter, ‘’How much do you love me?’’ She replied that she loved him beyond words. The king became happy and gave her one third of his kingdom.
Then the king asked the same question to his second daughter, Regan. She said that she loved him so much that she didn’t want to see any trouble in his life. She was ready to take his problem as her own. The king was satisfied with his second daughter’s answer. The king gave her another third of his kingdom.
The king asked the same question to his youngest daughter. She was the most liked daughter of the king. She said that she would take care of him when he was alone. The king wasn’t happy with her answer. He banished his youngest daughter, Cordelia from his kingdom. The king failed to understand the flattery of his two daughters. At last, French prince, Edgar understood her nature and quality and married her. After getting the kingdom, two daughters enslaved their father. They also kicked him out of the kingdom. The king realized his mistake and true nature of his two daughters. He came to know about the flattery of his two daughters. King also faced many problems like his daughter, Cordelia. He suffered from hunger and shelter.
At last, Cordelia found her father at worst condition. She took him to her kingdom. She started to take care of him. She started to fulfill her promise.
